VALE JOHN HENRY, LFRAIA

ArchiTeam Cooperative is deeply saddened by the passing of John Henry, LFRAIA, a long-term ArchiTeam member and past ArchiTeam Director.

John played an instrumental role in rebuilding ArchiTeam’s financial position over several terms on the board starting in the mid-2000s. During a particularly difficult period for the Cooperative, when its future was far from assured, his diligence, expertise and commitment helped rescue and rebuild ArchiTeam. We remain incredibly grateful for his contribution, alongside his fellow Board members Peter Hogg, Gerry McLoughlin, Paul Orlandini, Fred Tonelli, Peter Finn and Cathi Colla.

John was a passionate Victorian architect and Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects. He began his career with leading practices including Mockridge Stahle & Mitchell and Daryl Jackson before developing a particular interest in healthcare architecture and founding John Henry Architects in 2004. His work included his acclaimed private residence, Research House, which received national recognition through ArchiTeam and RAIA Colorbond® Steel awards, as well as several innovative cluster housing developments.

John was deeply committed to the architectural profession. Over a 40-year period, he served as an ArchiTeam Director and as an RAIA Victorian Chapter Councillor, contributing to its Honours, Access and Heritage committees.

John leaves a significant legacy through his architecture, professional leadership and contribution to the organisations and people around him. ArchiTeam is honoured to acknowledge his contribution to the Cooperative and extends its deepest condolences to John’s family, friends and colleagues.
